About This Dog

Groot's ideal home

Groot is a 5-month-old pup looking for a calm, patient home where he can continue to grow in confidence at his own pace. He is a little shy and worried at times, but he is friendly when meeting new people and very affectionate with those he knows. Groot needs help with his confidence and a family who can help guide him and show him that the world isn’t so scary. He can be worried when meeting other dogs and may need steady, positive introductions, he has only had interactions with his siblings and has shown to guard food/ treats from them. He will benefit from having walking buddies but would be more suited to being the only dog in the home. Groot cannot live with cats or small furries, but he could share a home with older, secondary school-aged children who understand how to interact with a large, sensitive young dog. Adopters should be mindful that Groot will be a large/giant breed dog when he reaches adulthood.. He has moderate energy levels and will need a family committed to all aspects of puppy training, including housetraining, socialisation, and building his confidence out on walks—especially as he can find traffic a little overwhelming and prefers quieter areas. Access to a secure outdoor space would really help him relax and take in his surroundings safely.

Could you be Groot's perfect match?

Groot is currently part of our Home Stay scheme, so he is not based at the centre while he waits for his forever family. He is a lovely, gentle large pup who enjoys company and cannot yet be left alone, so any time spent by himself will need to be introduced gradually. He loves his food and enjoys treats, though he may guard these from other dogs, so he’ll need a safe, separate space to enjoy his treats. Groot greets visitors warmly and thrives on affection from his family. He would suit adopters who are ready to invest time in training, enjoy peaceful walks, and can provide plenty of companionship, play, and reassurance. With the right support, Groot has the potential to blossom into a confident, happy companion who will reward his family with loyalty and love.
